As a result, the patient sees a blurry, foggy image with muffled colours, causing difficulties with moving, reading, and driving, especially at dusk and at night.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_custom color_alternate\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"w-iconbox us_custom_70facfb4 iconpos_left style_default color_secondary align_left no_text\"><div class=\"w-iconbox-icon\" style=\"font-size:3rem;\"><i class=\"fad fa-eye\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"w-iconbox-meta\"><h2 class=\"w-iconbox-title\" style=\"font-size:1.2rem;\">Zonular weakness<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>The weakening of the lens\u2019s zonular apparatus is associated mostly with pseudoexfoliation syndrome, glaucoma, myopia, some forms of retinal dystrophy, traumatic eye injury, or intraocular surgery. When the cataract is hypermature, the lens becomes completely cloudy (white or milky cataract). In all these cases, the lens zonules which support the lens and keep it in the correct position undergo degradation. Subsequently, &#8220;wobbling&#8221; or subluxation of the lens may develop. In these patients, during cataract procedures, capsular tension rings made of polymer, usually PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate), are used.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_custom\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"w-iconbox us_custom_70facfb4 iconpos_left style_default color_secondary align_left no_text\"><div class=\"w-iconbox-icon\" style=\"font-size:3rem;\"><i class=\"fad fa-eye\"><\/i><\/div><div class=\"w-iconbox-meta\"><h2 class=\"w-iconbox-title\" style=\"font-size:1.2rem;\">Implantation of capsular tension ring helps the surgeon to:<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><ul>\n<li>Partially replace the lost lens ligaments (zonular fibres).<\/li>\n<li>Stretch the lens capsular bag.<\/li>\n<li>Create the necessary tension on the capsule.<\/li>\n<li>Restore the circular contour of the capsular bag equator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Redistribute the forces of the residual zonular ligaments. In patients with traumatic eye injuries or congenital lens subluxation, CTRs are used for anchoring the capsular bag to the sclera. Risks include significant inflammation, bleeding, and some others.
